The travel, tourism and
hospitality industry is today the largest and most pervasive
sector within the global economy. The need to provide quality
services in a business-orientated manner requires management
leadership in all the main functional business areas (finance,
marketing, human resource management, and operations) as
well as strategic leadership. ABE’s Travel, Tourism
and Hospitality qualifications provide a pathway through
which students can develop a combination of key business
skills and industry knowledge in preparation for the varied
and exciting careers which the industry offers.
It is widely accepted that the travel,
tourism and hospitality industry today is the largest and
most pervasive sector within the global economy. It is an
industry that comprises many components (historical attractions,
theme parks, travel agents, airlines, museums, hotels and
restaurants among others) in both the public and private
sectors of most countries. Attracting visitors is high on
the economic agenda of all countries, states and cities.
What travel, tourism and hospitality, world-wide, has in
common is the need to provide quality services to increasingly
discerning customers in a business-orientated manner. This
need requires management leadership in all the main functional
business areas (finance, marketing, human resource management,
and operations) as well as the strategic leadership associated
with general management.
ABE’s
new Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications
in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality provide a pathway through
which students aspiring to management roles in the sector
can develop a combination of key business skills and industry
knowledge in preparation for the varied and demanding careers
which the industry offers. Students at all levels can use
the combination of business and vocational subjects which
they have pursued as a route to rewarding employment or
as a stepping stone to further study in colleges and universities
world-wide. The Travel, Tourism and Hospitality pathway
is structured identically with that in ABE’s Business
Administration and Business Information Systems programmes,
is of a comparable level and shares a number of business
subjects with them.
